Collection: Margaret Arthur RUA

Margaret lives and works in County Down, and studied Fine Art painting and etching at Belfast College of Art before taking a post graduate degree in printmaking from the Brighton College of Art. 

In 1981 she co-founded the Seacourt Print Workshop and was its Director until 2013 after which she was made an Honorary Life Member. She exhibits widely in Ireland, the U.K., and throughout Europe, and in the U.S.A., where she lived and worked for a year, holding a solo exhibition at The Russell Rotunda, a Senate building in Washington DC.  In 2007 she spent six months in California, printmaking at Stanford University, and at the Pacific Art League, and in 2010 took the opportunity to work in San Diego with encaustic artist Robert Treat.  Her work has also been shown at the Belfast International Airport several years running. 

She continues to develop encaustic technique in her own work, combining it with printmaking and has shown work in Orange County, California, during 2014, 2015 and 2016.Margaret was elected an Associate of the Royal Ulster Academy in 2002 and served on the RUA Council from 2003-2007 before being elected Academician in 2006 and again served on the council from 2013 to 2015.
