Collection: Jennifer Trouton RUA

Jennifer Trouton is a contemporary artist based in QSS Bedford Street, Belfast. 

Since graduating from the University of Ulster in the mid-nineties her work has been extensively exhibited both nationally and internationally.  Her work has featured in group exhibitions in The Katzen Gallery, Washington DC, The Guayasamin Gallery, Cuba, the Drawing Centre, New York, the Ku Art Gallery, Beijing and Waterhouse & Dodd’s, Cork Street, London.  Solo exhibitions include the 18th Street Gallery Los Angeles, Spectrum Gallery, London, The Ashford Gallery, Dublin, The Fenderesky Gallery Belfast and The Millennium Court Arts Centre, Portadown.

Throughout her career Trouton’s work has garnered numerous awards including the 2016 Golden Fleece  Award hosted by the Lilias Mitchell Foundation , the 2016 Tyrone Guthrie award at the Royal Ulster Academy annual exhibition, Clare Morris Open Exhibition Adjudicators Award,  and the RHA Annual Exhibition Keating/McLaughlin award . In 2007 Trouton was a finalist for the AIB Artist of promise Award. She has also been awarded Residencies in New York, Los Angeles, Canada and Ireland.

Trouton’s work is held in numerous public and private collections including the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, The Northern Ireland Civil Service Collection, The University of Ulster, Belfast HSC Trust, ESB Ireland, Office of Public Works, Allianz Insurance, N.I Department of Finance & Personnel and David Roberts Foundation London.

In 2012, writer E.L. James featured Trouton’s work in her publishing phenomenon Fifty Shades of Grey. The unexpected association with the New York Times best seller resulted in the creation of a new piece of print work and international sales.

In 2019, Jennifer was appointed artist in residence at the School of Architecture and Design at XJTLU, (Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University), China.

In 2022, her work was shown at  the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris.
